4K 8MP Outdoor Solar Camera | Tapo C465

Second Tapo Magcam purchased, but this is the Solar C465 model. Night and day over the C460 non-solar model on battery usage. Almost a month in and the battery is maintaining 95%, impressive! As with my first C460 I have it recording in 4K with all detection modes enabled. Video quality is amazing, as is sound and accurate detection modes all working fine. The magnetic mount is very strong. Using an internal SD card for recording, don't feel the Tapo Cloud storage is worth it. This one is a winner!

This has been one of the most reliable pieces of tech I have used lately. The built in solar panel is doing exactly what it should by keeping the battery at one hundred percent so I never have to mess with a ladder or charging cables. The build quality feels solid enough to handle the dust and heat and the video is clear enough to see every detail day or night. I was worried about false alerts from my cats or the wind but the motion detection is actually smart enough to tell the difference which saves me from constant notifications. The magnetic mount made the install incredibly fast and the whole system feels like it was built to last without any of the usual headaches. The sound quality is excellent and the value is good for what you get. This is a solid piece of equipment that just works and I am definitely picking up a few more for my other projects.

Solid alternative to the main Tapo cam with solar panel. It's a more compact setup so if you're worried about where youre going to put the solar panel this thing works great cuz it's attached .The 4k quality on here is great the video is only 15 FPS and I know some people don't like that but for me it works fine.I have this thing up in an area where there is a lot of movement and at one point it was cloudy & raining for a week and it went as low as 30% but with the sun it charges pretty quick.I have multiple Tapo cameras and the main reason why I like them is because you don't have to go subscriptions to get the most basic features like other cameras make you do and the app is super easy to use and loads the cameras very quickly great value for the amount of cost.

I just stuck it to the top frame of my steel back door. It works fantastic the picture is clear setup was a breeze.

Great image quality although I wish this clarity at max zoom was a little sharper. Maybe in the future AI can be used to smooth things out like Google does with the Pixels max zoom or Tapo maybe can make an optical zoom version of some of their cameras.The battery life is phenomenal! I have it set to the highest video quality and upped the distance and detection range, 3 days on the roof, battery is still 100%. That magnet is nuts, watch your fingers folks! 🤣

The camera so far has good battery life, picture, easy magnetic mounting. The bad is due to the built in solar panel it limits where you can put the camera for good solar charging. Otherwise it’s a good camera.

for the price, and the features this solar 4k cam packs in some punches. I love everything about this camera, it has motion, people, pet, and vehicle detection, best part it has built in solar that allows you to record 24/7 and camera does time lapse to each event. It is super easy to install, requires an SD card i would get A2 class SD for its speed. I did wish it supported matter, who knows maybe next update. The camera is well built, color night vision, again priced just right without any subscription. I did purchase their new hub as i like my sd card inside my place rather than inside camera. Its light and very durable

I’ve been using the Tapo C465 for about 10 days now, and overall it’s been very stable and reliable.When I first received it, the battery was only at 21%. After installing it outside my garage, the solar panel has been working well — it’s now charged up to 92%. Even though there’s frequent car traffic in front of my house, it still maintains a good charge. Compared to my previous C425 KIT, the charging speed is a bit slower (usually starts charging around 10:30 AM when the sun is up), but battery life hasn’t been a concern at all.The 24/7 Capture feature is really useful — it helps ensure important moments are recorded, even between motion events.Installation was super easy thanks to the magnetic mount. It makes adjusting the camera angle very convenient to get the best live view.One tip: if your camera faces a busy street like mine and you don’t want too many notifications, I recommend setting up detection zones in the app. I like that you can customize zones for different types of detection separately.Overall, a solid camera with great flexibility and features

It's hard to find a decent camera without a mandatory subscription service. It's also a complete pain to take the camera off to charge or to hook up a corded camera. After some research, I landed on this particular camera. This supports local storage, with a good weatherproof design, and most importantly, it is self-charging. I thoroughly read the product specifications on Amazon and on the product website before I bought a compatible SD card. The app setup was very easy, and I had no connection issues. The night vision works fine, but it also offers a light-up/full color option for better quality footage. I read some negative reviews about connection and difficulty in downloading the videos from local storage, but I personally had no issues with either. Overall, at this price, it does exactly what I need it to, without any strings attached. I've had it for a few months, and I'm very happy with it. This was a great replacement for my old Arlo (which was more expensive and was just mediocre with the home hub local storage).

This is a nice camera with a nice picture. I like the fact that the camera has the solar panel built into it. That means there is no wire. It also comes with the security line that allows you to secure the camera to the base so people cannot easily knock it down. The magnet is very strong so the wind cannot knock it down either. It pairs seamlessly with the Tapo app. I have two of them.

Excellent camera! The 4K quality is very good - everything looks super clear and crisp.One of the best parts is the continuous recording option that snaps a pic every 5 seconds. It’s a perfect way to capture things 24/7 and it’s a great way to find out which neighbours aren't picking up after their dogs in your yard!The battery is solid - it hasn't even dropped below 94% for me and with the solar panel it tops up easily on a sunny day. Great small and discreet camera.

Works as advertised! Excellent video and recharges itself quickly! Also works well with my tapo hub and don’t need to install a sd card directly into the camera. All goes to sd card in the hub

Works amazing

4K video quality is perfectly clear. Added this camera to our backyard deck at our condo. Solar panel keeps it fully charged with less than 2 hours of direct sunlight daily on the panel. The Tapo app is easy to use and adding cameras, switches, etc to it are straightforward and simple, even for a retired non tech guy. As an added bonus, we get to watch Robins build a nest, lay eggs, and now waiting for the hatchlings.
