2K 3MP Outdoor Battery Camera | Tapo C410

A sturdy camera, but it doesn't feel like it! One huge drawback though; unless you put this camera 10 ft high or higher, it only takes a little turning to remove it, making it useless. What I did, was I fashioned a "cage" of sorts from chicken wire. One side of the cage is easily opened to access for recharging. That side is held in place during regular use by zip ties. Just a few snips on the front side (so that the wire doesn't interfere with the infrared night vision) and it works like a charm! Not sure how it'll do in colder temps. Says it's rated to -4F/-20C, so we'll see. Have to keep an eye on the charge. Colder temps means battery may drain faster, but it is a wonderful camera. Sensitivity on the detection mode can be a pain in the butt. I have mine set for 6 but I find this doesn't trigger the camera soon enough, yet at 7, it picks up objects that are not people, that are not even close to the area. I'll be tweaking this for some time I guess.What would be nice is a wireless cam of this quality that records to local storage for 24/7. This one only records once the detection sensors have been triggered.I have Tapo cameras at all levels of my home, and I am VERY satisfied.

😻😻Really happy with this camera! The picture is super clear and it was very easy to set up — I got it working on my phone in just a few minutes. The motion alert works great too.I like that it’s rechargeable, and one full charge can last about three months, which is very convenient. The design looks nice and modern, and shipping was fast.For this price, I think it’s a great deal — simple to use and works perfectly!!

I’ve bought this about 7 months ago, honestly setting it up was extremely easy and what I do love most about it is that other people in my house also have access to view the camera. It’s nice to have something where I can occasionally look through when I’m out, especially if I ever leave city it’d be beneficial. One thing I could say is that it’s very very sensitive to all types of motions which can get annoying but it does the job. Another thing is that you can buy a subscription to have footage stored OR you can get an SD card. Recently though, they’ve kinda upped the pricing a bit which kinda bummed me out as previously I paid less to keep footage every month. Though I would say it’s super worth it, does the job, and is extremely beneficial to have a peace of mind knowing who’s at the door. (Especially when you don’t wanna answer your door sometimes lol)

Batteries are fine. I bought 2x over 2 weeks ago and both batteries are above 90%. Make sure to use the motion detection trigger. If the camera records all the time, all the time... Well you would be better off wired.Lots of options and the phone interface is nice. Does recommend. Twice.

It looks like the battery operated model has intermittent and unreliable ability to "wake up" when there is motion. Also it does not have the feature for continuous recording on the SDRAM card. The wired model is much preferable.

I am having trouble getting a micro SDcard that works in it

I purchased this security camera for the side of my apartment building that faces my driveway. At the time, almost a year ago, the reviews were very good, and I was sold on the battery life as it has been installed under the eve at the top of the building which requires a ladder. However, it did not last even 3 weeks when I had to have someone go up, take it down so that I could charge it again. After the 2nd charge, it was the same, it only lasted a couple of weeks. I have turned off all notifications and lowered the settings as the app had recommended. This is not convenient. I live in a rental unit and there is no electrical on the driveway side of the building which is why I purchased this wire-free security camera.

I'm gonna give 4 stars as we just got them and installed them on April 22nd so not really enough time to fully put them through the ringer lol.One out front and one in the backyard. Both outside.Will say it was easy to install them and get the ap.The ap is easy enough to use and navigate and also worked with my kassa smart devices and that was a bonus surprise.Just like any camera you can set your motion and person detection zones and sensitivity.Sometimes it doesn't capture people but we're still playing with the settings.I had to buy the subscription as the SD cards I bought wouldn't format - my fault for getting cheap ones to save a buck. Really didn't think SD cards were so temperamental or complicated lol.So far its doing what it says it does.

My first outdoor camera. Had some packages stolen. No more since I installed it. The deterrent factor is for sure part of this, but this little thing at its little price is also very functional - and intuitive. It survived well in the cold weather of winter and the battery lasts as advertised. You can use a ad card to record but I prefer the cheap monthly plan. There was also a free 30 days trial, which will help you make your decision about that.

Battery doesn’t last 180 days. I have mine turned on all night and lots of traffic from the time I have it set. Will be shortening timer going forward to see if it lasts longer.

Pretty disappointed this camera does not capture movement I have clips after someone has already showed up at my front door. The clip is of them leaving an and I also bought the chip thinking. It will do a 24 hour recording. It does not pretty disappointed with this product. The battery dies so fast and it truly does not wake up even if I set the sensitivity at super high, it just drains the battery and still does not record when someone walks to your front door. Very disappointed.

Update to prior reviewI tried these again and it seems whatever issues they were having setting up is resolved because setup went well this time.I really want to like these battery powered unit (I have 2) but they have a very limited way they can be installed. Even though they have 2 mounting points on the camera they can only be mounted from the rear point because the video rotation is locked. You cannot rotate 90 or even the standard 180 degrees. Tapo seems to be struggling with some of these basics .. don’t put the 2nd mounting point if you can’t use it Tapo… update the firmware on these to allow video rotation. Until you fix this I would not recommend these cameras and will be returning the 2nd one I purchased.I have set up a lot of these types of cameras including older TPLink ones. These will not connect to their own app and I would not recommend after wasting an hour following all steps etc.

Video quality ok, not that great at times. Doesn't support continuous recording just motion detection recording. You have to manually hit recording in the app. Battery life excellent. Sometimes trouble connecting to device during app (more like a delay compared to my other tapo camera). The detection in low light is ridiculous sometimes, I've walked pass the camera at times and no detection notification sent to me.

I’ve only had the Tapo C410 security camera up a few days but already I am frustrated. The good: it is easy to set up and install and seems to have a decent quality of photo/video.The big con for me: I am using an sd card and the app does not allow you to delete single unimportant videos. The only way to delete is to reformat the whole card. Otherwise it keeps recording and then when the card is full it loops and records over old recordings.Update 7months later: I have updated my review as the camera has worked well all through our frigid weather and still has battery left. It is mounted above the front door and is slow to catch people unless the are dawdling. It is too high to catch them on the front steps unless they stand back from the door so obviously I need a better location to mount it.
