I have used this several times traveling recently and it works great! It connects easily to my Verizon hotspot service and allows my kids to all use their laptops and tablets without having to pay extra for the car Internet service. You can connect up to 32 devices, which we don’t nearly have that many-but with five computers going at once it runs fast and strong still-great for travel. I like the added VPN security so your browsing is protected. Overall happy with this mobile hotspot.

I have nothing bad to say about this hotspot. Here are some of the key points that I love about it:- Fast wifi connection; the wireless communication from your client to this device is super fast.- 5G Cellular Support; fully supports 5g.- Charges via USB-c; cable included.- Unlocked; works with most US based cell companies.- Beautiful user interface; touch screen display.- Supports external antennas.- Has a Gigabit ethernet port to hard wire to a network.

I've never owned a hotspot before so it's hard to review or compare. Overall I was pleasantly surprised. The packaging was "new tech"y in a way that you like from an expensive tech purchase. The item comes with more than I expected in some ways: very detailed instructions, a charger; and less in others: no sim card. I know that you have to get a plan to use a sim card, but I figured it would come with an open one that I could buy a plan for. Besides that, the interface, battery life, and reception are great. Again, I don't have anything to compare it with, but I don't see why I'd need to get a different hotspot over this one, which is exactly the kind of thing you want from a product that needs to "just work".

I bought this hotspot for travel and, at home, the router extends my signal. My cable/internet box is set up inside my upstairs bedroom and downstairs it is like a wasteland. The internet signal is terrible. I set this router up near a window downstairs and that really improved the signal in my kitchen and den. It doesn’t extend to the downstairs bedroom at the other end of the house. That room is for guests. I know that getting an antenna is an option to improve the signal there. For travel, I got a SIM card from my carrier. It’s a small device and it’s no more difficult to carry than a second phone. I usually work with documents rather than intense apps. The 5G works well and I’m very happy with the speed I get. Before when I saw that someone had sent me a zip file, I got so frustrated because it could be so slow to open large documents, like medical records. Now, I have the speed I need to process quickly, even when I have phone, tablet and computer all connected at the same time.I wanted the VPN feature to use at hotels and public places, but the set up in advanced settings was not as simple as the rest of the set up process was and I haven’t been able to configure it yet. I think there’s a file I have to use and I’ll have to wait until I can get a techie teen to help with that. The battery lasts all day, so even when I have long airplane segments, it holds out during the layovers.

Excellent Hotspot, Limited Battery Availability

I’ve been very happy with the performance of this hotspot. The 5G speeds are excellent, setup was straightforward, and it has been reliable for my in-car Wi-Fi setup. The touchscreen is responsive, and the overall build quality feels premium. The only reason I’m giving it four stars instead of five is that the removable battery, while convenient, is difficult to source separately. If you use this hotspot for long periods or in a warm environment, having a spare battery would be beneficial, but finding the exact replacement battery isn’t easy.I would love to see TP-Link make replacement batteries more readily available through their official channels or authorized retailers.Other than that, I have no complaints about the hotspot itself. It performs very well and I would recommend it.

Initially when I got this device, Verizon wouldn't support it and I couldn't add it a hotspot line to my account with it. Now it seems that Verizon will allow me to do it. I've already purchased another 3rd party SIM card and it seems to work reasonably well, even on 5G. The features on the device are amazing, and having an ethernet port to plug into a mesh system and an antenna port to boost the signal if you have this indoors is ideal.

I recently started using the TP-Link M8550, and it has completely transformed my mobile internet experience. The tri-band Wi-Fi 6E speeds are impressive, easily handling multiple devices for smooth streaming, video calls, and downloads. I love that it supports 5G cellular mode with SIM cards for travel and Ethernet mode for home use. The battery lasts all day—up to 14 hours—without needing a recharge, even with 10+ devices connected. It’s unlocked and works with AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon, which makes international travel easy. The option to attach external antennas is great for improving signals in low-coverage areas. Highly recommended for remote work or travel!

This works with all carriers. The speeds are 5G and full wifi. The bandwidth is consistent and the battery life is well over six hours. To use the ethernet port at full speed, the battery does need to be removed and connected to a charger-other wise it is a great hot spot.

This mobile hotspot has been a really useful device for travel and working remotely. The connection speeds are fast and stable thanks to the 5G support and Wi-Fi 6E capability, which easily handles multiple devices at the same time. I’ve been able to connect laptops, tablets, and phones without noticing slowdowns. The battery life is solid and lasts through most of the day depending on usage. Setup was simple once I installed a SIM card, and the interface is easy to navigate. I also like that it includes features like Ethernet connectivity and the option for external antennas, which makes it more flexible than typical hotspots. The device is compact enough to carry around without hassle. While it can get a little warm during heavy use and carrier compatibility may vary, overall it performs well and provides reliable high-speed internet when you need connectivity on the go.

Great device if it worked as advertised.

I spent 10x the price for a 5G capable device thinking I'd get 5G speed but all I was able to get was LTE/4G on the Rogers network. I was in an area where there's 5G coverage since my Samsung S25 Ultra had 5G in downtown Montreal on the Rogers as well. I would've just bought the 50$ model had I known 5G didn't work. The device also gets pretty hot after using it for some time.I ended up returning it. Worst of all, I had to pay my own return shipping even if I had prime membership.

Exactly what I ordered

Fantastic. Worked right out of the box with my Canadian SIM card. It does overheat if left plugged in to the charger to long but that was simply fixed by standing it upright and removing the battery cover.
