I absolutely love this lock. I bought it to replace my old Tapo DL110, and it has been a huge step up in daily use.The Best Feature:The absolute best part is the included door sensor. My old lock would constantly auto-lock itself while the door was still wide open, meaning the deadbolt would slam right into the door frame if someone tried to push it shut. This new one actually knows when the door is fully closed, so it never locks at the wrong time.Daily Use:The lock itself feels solid and well-made. The motorized deadbolt is smooth, catches easily, and doesn't make a ton of noise. It paired right up with my smart home setup, and the app response is instant without any annoying lag.Pros:Included sensor completely stops it from auto-locking while the door is still open.Huge performance and feature upgrade over the Tapo DL110.Deadbolt runs smoothly and quietly without catching.Quick app response times.Cons:None—it fixed every annoyance I had with my old lock.

I already had a Tapo doorbell and a couple outdoor security cameras, so this was really easy to add to my app. Integrates nicely. Installation was easy because I had a professional do it (new door installation so it was included). I’ve installed a bunch of smart locks before, and this actually seems simpler than some other brands I’ve used. The keypad lights up when you go to touch it, but the palm reader and finger print scanner are the coolest parts. They are so easy to set up and they work well. You can set it up for different users so I know who’s coming and going. You can also set temp pin (great for a short term rental or something) and timed pins (so my cleaning lady has access at the same day/time every week).Oh, and there is obviously a key backup, but let’s be real.. no body gets this because they prefer using a physical key.Battery is easy to charge with a USB-C. Battery life is fine. You’ll have to charge it a couple times a year, but no big deal.So yeah, another great product by Tapo. Oh, and I don’t pay for a Tapo subscription.

I installed the Tapo DL130 smart deadbolt a few weeks ago, and it has exceeded my expectations in just about every way. Installation was straightforward on my standard exterior door, and the included instructions were clear enough that I had everything installed, calibrated, and connected to Wi-Fi in well under an hour. The standout feature for me is the biometric access. Both the fingerprint reader and palm recognition work surprisingly well. Fingerprints are recognized almost instantly, and after enrolling everyone in the household, unlocking the door has become effortless. It's incredibly convenient when your hands are full of groceries, carrying kids, or simply don't want to dig through your pockets for keys. We still have backup options with the keypad, physical key, and app, but we've rarely needed them. The Tapo app has been excellent. Pairing the lock was quick, and the app provides a clear activity log showing exactly when the door was locked, unlocked, and by whom. I really like being able to check the lock status from anywhere and lock the door remotely if someone forgets. Creating temporary or scheduled access codes for family members, guests, or service workers is also very easy and gives me peace of mind without having to hand out spare keys. The auto-lock feature has been one of my favorite additions. I have it set to automatically lock a short time after the door closes, which has completely eliminated those moments of wondering whether I remembered to lock the front door. The door sensor has been reliable, and the lock engages consistently without needing to manually check it.Build quality is excellent. The deadbolt feels solid, the exterior keypad is responsive, and the finish has held up well despite daily use. The lock operates quietly, and the motor is smooth without sounding overly loud. I also appreciate the IP65 weather resistance since this lock is exposed to rain, snow, and changing temperatures throughout the year.Battery life has been impressive so far. The rechargeable battery is a nice improvement over replacing disposable batteries, and the app clearly displays the remaining charge so there are no surprises. Having Wi-Fi built in also means there was no need to purchase an additional hub, which helped keep the overall cost down.If I had one small suggestion, it would be to include a slightly more detailed quick-start guide for first-time smart lock users, especially when setting up advanced features like scheduled access and automation. The app walks you through everything, but a little more printed guidance would make the initial setup even easier.Overall, this has been an outstanding smart lock. It combines fast and reliable biometric access, excellent remote management, strong security features, and a polished app into one package. It has made coming and going much more convenient while giving us greater confidence that our home is secure. I would absolutely purchase this lock again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a dependable, feature-rich smart deadbolt.

The tapo mobile app and lock work great. Installation was very straightforward. All necessary parts and templates were included. With 7 different ways to open, and a battery that should last a year, I’m confident I made the right decision.

We've switched from Eufy to Tapo about 6 months ago and haven't been disappointed so far. This seems like a brand new lock introduced. We recently bought the DL105 which doesn't include a doorbell. This model includes palm and fingerprint recognition. You may also opt for PIN or the key. This item seems to be priced appropriately based on what's out there from other well known brands.Pros:Easy installation. Took less then 10 minutes without having to look at the instructions. If you haven't install a door lock before then I reckon it would take a little longer to double check.FP printer works accurately. I haven't had any failures.Palm recognition works like a charm as well. I test unregistered hands from myself, spouse, and kids and the door did not unlock.Doorbell feature works. I disabled this as I have a standalone Tapo doorbell. No delays on notifications. Rang the doorbell and "caused" problems on purpose to see how the lock would react and notify.USB-C to charge the battery. Tired of seeing micro USB in this day and age. Can't be integrated in app with your Tapo doorbell if you have one. You can also control and adjust/view a bunch of settings through the app.Cons:None thus far.Not tested but probably fine or other info:Battery life is still 100% even after a couple days of being on our busy front door. Our previously DL105's battery was at 100% for awhile even after being on the front door for weeks. They both use the same battery.Tapo devices go on sale quite often throughout the year so if you don't need a lock immediately but would like to upgrade then just wait for sale. If you need a lock right now then I recommended this lock and brand.

Such an awesome technology. It works well and even has a speaker to announce what it does. The palm reader has it failed and the fingerprint reader is accurate plus is also the touch area for locking the door. The keypad can be rearranged each time if you’re worried about someone spying on your taps. Or the settings allow you to not use that feature. The only thing it’s missing is NFC operation. But it does work with the app and I believe there’s a geo fence setting. It also has a SC1 keyway so I was able to rekey it to my other doors very easily. The cylinder is easily removable with two screws.I would definitely recommend this for the DIYrr or just for any homeowner that wasn’t a smart lock that has a secure quick way to get in. The palm reading will work even if you injure/cut your hand.

I am still getting used to this lock but thus far it is excellent. It was easy to program but I had to move an extender out to the garage to set it up the lock on an iron gate. It is about 50 feet away from my router. My locksmith was able to rekey the locks so I only need one key. You can program the lock to wait a varied number of seconds before the deadbolt is engaged to lock the door. It also talks and tells you the lock is engaged. It can be programmed with a multitude of settings. The fingerprint opener works quickly. If you use your left hand thumb to program it will not let you in if you try to open the lock with your right hand. However, it says I can program 100 fingerprints so problem solved. It works for doors over 2" and has a better rating for weather worthiness and lock security than the prior model. On two of these locks, I have had to remove the inside cover and remove the battery and put it back to get the tapo app to recognize the device.

Lock was very easy to install. Locks are much higher quality than I have used in the past. Auto locking feature works every time. Simple to connect to 5 ghz or 2.4 ghz network. Love the long term battery and the fact there is a battery backup and a c connector in case of battery failure. Palm Vein and Biometrics work well. The app does a good job of guiding you through installation and setup.

i bought this devicee to replace an UltraLoq. I like it. I have several Tapo/Kasa smart switches so controlling everything from the app (and Alexa) is great. But a few issues.1. No Apple HomeKit support. Bummer.2. The UltraLoq had an “unlock on approach” feature. Really great feature. This lock lacks that. That feature would make the Tapo truely hands free.3. Aligning it properly was difficult. It really requires 2 people.4. Fastening down the screw end-caps was VERY difficult. Especially for my old arthritic hands.I recommend this lock. But be aware. Or wait until the technology improves.

I was skeptical of the palm reading ability, but it works great! My only complaint, which isn’t a normal complaint, is that it operates so quietly. Most would see that as a positive, so I’m including it in my review. It’s hard to tell that it locks when I push the lock button. Aside from that, simple installation and setup, and high quality.

Upgraded from an older keypad/biometric smart lock. Huge improvement in battery life, responsiveness, and just overall use. My older one required AA batteries which were not consistent in use and often resulted in a randomly dead lock. The palm open works consistently and is quick. The appearance looks much nicer and has a high quality look. Installation was super easy. Adding the lock to the Tapo app was simple. Overall I would highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a lock with great battery life and multiple options for access.

I have been looking for a smart lock for nearly 2 years. There always were poor reviews with other brands that made me cautious. I have converted most of my Smart home devices to the Tapo (TP-Link) brand with great results. I took a chance with this lock. Ease of installation was great - 20 to 30 minutes and you're finished. Lock functionality is great, lots of robust features that are user friendly. This is definitely a buy for those that want a robust smart lock.
