Today I saw a news report that the U.S. government issued a warning that TP-LINK is a Chinese company. Its biggest security risk is that TP-LINK will not roll out a fix patch in time when a security vulnerability is found in the router. I did find similar problems on other models of TP-LINK devices. I hope that in the future, TP-LINK will patch the router's firmware vulnerabilities in a timely manner, and release updated software in time to help users resist hacking and improve the security of TP-LINK devices.TP-LINK should provide at least 5 years of system software update service for each product. If TP-LINK can fix the router system vulnerability in time, then this company's products are still worth recommending to buy.

This is a compact travel router with plenty of security for your devices. Easy to setup and connect to while traveling or for use at home as a second wireless access point.I set up a second access point at home to separate guest and private devices.

I was trying to troubleshoot mine and found a couple of reviews that have reported flashing Blu-Red-Blue-Red-OFF... and I found the issue.. IT requires 1.5 amps which most USB implementations will not supply... Use the included adapter and it powers right up. (I wonder if some of the other reports of failures might not be the same reason.)Also I've seen a few people complain of getting a used one because the logs report activity in May 2024... Mine had the same activity, but the actual logs show it connecting and getting an IP address from my network... In May... Before I owned it... The truth is that the Firmware Clock is set to May 24, 2024 and it logs that date until it connects to a time server and corrects its date.I used the previous version of this tool to create a client network inside of my network so that I can configure servers and workstations in an emulated version of their future network.This one will allow me to connect wired both on the Wan and Lan sides. So far it's great.

Item was clearly a return as there was no Ethernet cable and I had to reset the unit because I didn't have the password. That's disappointing...... But the unit seems to work well.

Broke shortly after purchase, does not even boot up, could not establish wired connection to access admin panel.You can't power it from USB port, but only from the wall power outlet, so how is it a mobile travel router?

Best travel router for this wifi generation. Compact and literally plug-and-play for connections, once you’ve set up the admin component. This router has the same capabilities as full-size and far more expensive ones. Tether app is well designed and easy to use. Get it on sale, and use the savings to buy a travel case (Amazon sells many specifically designed for this router).

If you need to use the VPN client built into this router, be prepared for painfully slow speeds.That's why I got the router. So my Roku streaming stick can use the router VPN client, to appear like the Roku is still is Canada. Some streaming apps / content don't work outside Canada.Problem is the VPN on here is SO SLOW......I could get 150Mbps with the Roku stick connected without VPN. With VPN it dropped to 10Mbps, a painful speed for streaming.Otherwise this is a pretty decent travel router. Only other notable flaw, is this router is unable to use an identical SSN name for BOTH 5G and 2.4G channels.

I bought this to see if it could be used to load PS2 games from a USB drive, over the LAN port, to a slim PS2 running Free McBoot. And the answer is: yes it can! It does require some wrangling to get it to work though. You have to connect the router to your PC and enable USB samba sharing. Do not set a share name or user info. The software will automatically create a share name, in my case it used the letter of the USB drive in Windows. It can be checked by connecting to the samba share on your PC using FTP. In Free McBoot, network settings are DHCP and then enter the IP address of the router (I changed it in the router software from 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.0.123). For share name, enter the auto-created name and leave user/pass blank. Then, when configured for ETH games, Free McBoot should be able to see the samba share. You can also swap to a different USB drive without changing any other settings.

I know is travel router but it only works in a single room.Is my third TP-Link product and I thought it was going to do better, my hotel room was a living room next to a bedroom ... WIFI signal never reached next room, so this is a single-room router .. and when it did reach next room it never worked.

I bought this router basically to design a separate network from the rest of my house for building a personal media center and data storage (it is basically my personal local cloud), for which it provides me a great connecting speed. It supports WPA and WPA2 (personal and business), WPA3-personal and WEP. Also, it supports 2.4 and 5Ghz providing a total bandwidth of 1300 Mbps. It can also be used as a wireless extender or a wireless receptor for devices that have no wireless connection and can also convert a wired modem to wireless, but I would personally use a more powerfull router for such function. Of course it worked for me as I don't have that many devices connected at the same time, in that case, you might require a more powerful device, but at least, for connecting a small linux server computer, my laptop, my phone, my tablet, and my TV, it works great! It can also be used to extend a mobile Hotspot from your phone, that's why it has a usb port, where you can also plug an external HDD or SSD, however, it is better to use an old computer to handle the storage (which is what I did, plus an ethernet connection to the same router) and just use the wireless to share the contents to the rest of the devices (this is because the router has little CPU power and little RAM). Of course, there's a lot more stuff you can do with this baby, and even save some money, compared to other devices.

I love this travel router. It's compact, lightweight, and easy to carry anywhere. The setup was simple, the Wi-Fi connection is fast and reliable, and the USB-C power option is very convenient. It works great for travel and gives me a secure connection wherever I go. Overall, it's an excellent product and I highly recommend it. 5 stars!

Worked when teabelling abroad. VPN didn't work well using home router, but saved us from getting passes for multiple devices

I’ve been using the TP-Link AX1500 Wi‑Fi 6 Travel Router for a while now and it’s been excellent.The first thing I noticed was how easy it is to set up. The process only took a few minutes, and the companion app from TP-Link is very intuitive and user-friendly. Even if you’re not very technical, it walks you through everything step by step.Performance has been great as well. The Wi-Fi 6 speeds are fast and stable, and I haven’t had any connection drops or reliability issues since I started using it. It’s been completely dependable.I also really like the compact design. It’s small enough to throw in a bag when traveling, but still powerful enough to handle multiple devices without slowing down.Overall, this is a fantastic little router. It’s reliable, simple to use, and performs exactly as expected.

Definitely great value! I have tried the Ethernet connection...super fast, as well as 2.4 and 5 frequencies... also super fast.I did purchase a cat 8 cable for the Ethernet connection because I wanted a longer cable than the older, slower, shorter cable provided. Max speed possible and this little unit does the job.It's a small and portable unit and definitely doesn't get hot..warm but not hot.I ran it as a hot spot...great results. Make sure that you change the factory default SSID and password for better security.Be careful of the sticker on the bottom with the factory reset password. It rubs off very easily and should be under plastic..it's not and I lost the factory codes but easily recoverable via a Ethernet cable reset. Overall this is the value unit that you need for a portable router.Update: Still positive about this router, I used it on a trip with the hotel Wi-Fi... perfect results and without and problems. Consider it for your next trip. I use it daily at home as a hotspot.. just plug it in and it's already configured.
